Walker Lake Fishing

You need to do a short, but steep, hike to this location. Located after a 3.5 mile dirt road drive on Sawmill Road, you hike a cool 500 feet descent in just half a mile. The shore of this lake is littered with fisherman trails and shady spots. Bring your float tube or kayak and enjoy this large lake. See that dock, boats and cabins across the lake? That is a private camp…so don’t bother the good folks that run it. Please remember your mountain manners and do not leave trash or your poop next to the water. Properly bury your personal defecation. So many leave their toilet paper, poop and bait trash everywhere.  Please help keep this area clean.

Location

Dirt road for trail head parking is located near the North end of the HWY 158, follow signs for Walker Lake (Sawmill Rd).  After 3.5 miles driving on the road, you will be at the trail head parking lot.

Fish Tips

This is a favorite spot to many.  Walk the many narrow trails around the lake to find your favorite shore spot, or launch your float tube to get to deeper water.

Rules

Fishing License is Required (purchase online or in town). General limit is 5 per day and never more than 10 in possession. Fishing season is the Last Saturday in April through November 15 every year. Fishing times are an hour before sunrise and an hour after sunset, night fishing is not permitted.
